The unique manufacturing production processes cover the full spectrum of textiles and clothing manufacturing. Vic Bay Apparel has been manufacturing garments for the promotional industry for over 20 years and have a wealth of experience and expertise in the manufacturing of 100% cotton products.
In the factory we spin yarn from raw cotton, knit the yarn into fabric
which is then dyed and finished to the highest quality standards. The
fabric is then cut according to various patterns and the garments are
assembled and delivered to our modern distribution centres. Each step of
this process is in line with international standards and has been
accredited by some of South Africa's top retailers.
The production process is fully vertically integrated and consists of several manufacturing operations which cover the full spectrum of textiles and clothing production, i.e. yarn spinning, fabric knitting, fabric dyeing, cutting, assembly and finishing of garments.Controlling each of the manufacturing processes has enabled Vic Bay to control its destiny in critical areas such as product quality and product availability.
We source our cotton from various countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC)
Our spinning mill where cotton yarn of various tex counts are spun. This spinning plant operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our 100% cotton yarn goes through stringent tests to ensure the highest quality open-end yarn.
Select T-shirts are knitted in body size tubular form allowing for seamless-side garments. We also produce wide width fabric for our products as well as custom orders. The spun yarn is fed into knitting machines which knit the yarn into fabric. Tubular fabric allows the main body of the garment to be made without cutting, stitching or joining.
The dye house and finishing plant is where fabric is dyed to international colour fastness and performance benchmarks to ensure stability. Using the latest dye machine technology, our knitted fabric is loaded into the machine where it rotates through the dyeing process. Fabric is conditioned by adding a softener and is then processed through the calendar machine to the required width and dried.
Our state-of-the-art Bierrebi automatic cutting machines are used to ensure fast and accurate cutting of garments. The highly advanced automated template cutting ensures maximum precision, productivity and cost efficiency together with minimum fabric wastage.
At our garment assembly factories, the cut panels are sewn together into a wide range of t-shirts, polo's and sweatshirt styles by teams of qualified machinists with a high emphasis on quality control. At our assembly operations in Lesotho, garments are assembled to international standards.
